POLL: Should The Blue Jays Move Bo Bichette From SS To 2nd Base Next Season?

Should The Blue Jays Move Bo Bichette From SS To 2nd Base

I hate to break the bad news, but there’s a very good chance that Marcus Semien won’t be playing for the Blue Jays in 2022.

Marcus gambled on himself, signing with the Jays at $18 million this season and now in position for a huge contract as a pending free agent. A good guy in the clubhouse, running up numbers like 39 home runs, 94 RBIs and .270 batting average certainly doesn’t hurt his case either.

If the Blue Jays can re-sign Marcus to a long-term contract in the offseason, then this poll is dead…

Speaking of free agents..

The class of MLB short shops available in 2022 is totally stacked of All-Stars and potential Hall of Fame candidates.

Will Blue Jays management make a big splash and sign Javier Baez, Carlos Correa, Trevor Story, or Corey Seager if Semien isn’t back next year?

If Ross Atkins could land any of these guys, then you would have to consider moving Bo to second base to make it work.

Failing to sign Semien or any of the big free agents, the Blue Jays could move Cavan Biggio back to second base.. but making up for that lost production that we got from Marcus this season would be hard to fans to swallow…

The big question. Would moving Bo to second base impact the Blue Jays ability to sign him to a long-term contract? Would he even accept changing positions or dead set on playing short stop for the rest of his career?

We don’t want to piss Bo Bichette off, he’s one of our key franchise players that will hopefully be a Blue Jay for many years to come. Can we keep him happy?

To be 100% fair to Bo, his play at short stop has been much improved this year, but he also leads the MLB in errors by a short stop as the season winds down.

Let’s see how his numbers compare to everyone else. Errors don’t tell the whole story, but the numbers are definitely there for comparison.

Be honest. Don’t tell me that you don’t cringe a little every time the ball is hit to Bo and wondering where the ball is going exactly when throwing over to Vlad..

Bottom line. Keep Bo Bichette at SS or move him to 2nd base? It’s your call. Vote Now!

  • Should The Blue Jays Move Bo Bichette From SS To 2nd Base Next Season?

    • No – Bo can play wherever he wants. He stays at SS
    • Yes – He’s a better batter than fielder, move him to 2nd base
