There’s been tons of chatter about who’s going to win the AL MVP, Shohei Ohtani has been in the spotlight all year because he’s basically the guy that ‘both hits and pitches’.
For that fact alone, despite the Angels having no chance of making the playoffs, Shohei will probably win the MVP this year.
But Vlad is greedy and looking at a much bigger prize… The fabled Triple Crown.
This happens when a player hits for the highest batting average, gets the most home runs and drives in the most RBIs. As you’ll see below, it doesn’t happen very often..
Will Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Hit For The Triple Crown?
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is right there and has a legitimate shot provided he continues to remain hot.
Starling Marte was traded to Oakland from Miami (NL) at the trade deadline and currently the batting average leader, so not sure how that works… Vlad also needs to get a few RBIs as well to get this done.
Hitting for the Triple Crown is very rare.. How about for a 22 year old? Could that get him the MVP nod as well?
